TV is connected to receiver via HDMI ARC. The 5.1 audio will sometimes suddenly drop out. This only happens with Netflix and Amazon Prime Video apps on the TV. I have to switch the audio (via the TV settings) back to TV only. Switching it back to the surround sound after this only transfer audio back to surround sound about half of the time.
Perform a power reset on the TV and audio system: Turn off the TV and the audio system. Disconnect the power cords (mains lead) and the HDMI cable from both the TV and audio system. Leave it disconnected for about a minute.
Actually, HDMI-CEC can be done on any HDMI port, so you might actually still be able to control your TV with it connected to a regular HDMI port. But the TV will only send audio back to the Beam over an HDMI-ARC connection. Regular HDMI connections are intended for the TV to receive audio, not send it back to the device connected.
If the Control for HDMI function of your soundbar is off, sound may not be output depending on your TV model. I recently fitted an HDMI switch between the Samsung tv and Humax 2000T with a Sony DVD player plugged into another slot on the switch. Almost immediatelly on switching tv on had loss of sound-only cure was to pull psu cord out of rear of Humax and repower. Sound ok until switched on next time! Removing HDMI switch cured the problem!
